RESPECTING THE USA
Since an early age when I lived in my country, from time to time I would see and listen in the TV, radio, newspapers or billboards, headlines against the United States. Pitiful enough, I also saw that similar headlines, occurs in other regions of the world. As I had a special empathy to the USA, I soon could realize that these attacks, generally came from groups of Socialistic tendencies, or just from plain ignorant people. Therefore, I knew those judgments were totally unfair.
Although mistakenly perhaps, we could say that these attackers, may have had their reasons to behave like that. Who knows, maybe because of their opposite thinking about democracy, or simple because of personal feelings. The point is that, to a certain extent, they could be forgiven for it.
But hey! What a big surprise to me when I came into the United States of America, and began to hear everywhere I went, bad remarks against this country? These people I'm referring to, were not from any specific country but from all regions of the world happily living in here, yet attacking to it!?
With sadness in my heart, I started thinking, what is wrong with these people? They receive from this country:
Medicare, etc.
How is it possible after all they receive, they could be attacking this wonderful country!? It is perhaps they have lost the meaning of dignity, gratitude and consequence even for who gives them a hand? Literally! "they are biting the hand that feeds them."
After those considerations, I felt the necessity of writing this short commentary, to call the attention of the people who live here in this country, with no importance neither to race nor to the place in the world they come from, and ask them: LETS GIVE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, THE RESPECT IT DESERVES!
Don't forget that, when you came to the USA, in the first place you came because, your country could not offer you certain things like: A better life, opportunities, liberty, peace, or simply; to get away from war, or violence.
The USA welcomes you and offers you all these things. Why then be ungrateful? I mean, if you are not thankful for the hospitality and benefits you get, at least don't attack or cause trouble to it!
I ask myself: what would happen if a foreigner went to your country, and after being welcomed, sheltered and fed, he begins to say negative things about your country? You know, the country that received him with open doors and love? I am sure... at the least... he would be kicked on his butt and thrown out! Is this not true?
Now, for those of you who don't like the USA, hate it or simply feel uncomfortable living in here; why don't you return to your countries? This is a good question that has to be answered within yourself...within your conscience... there you'll find the correct answer.
The global rule is that: "If you feel uncomfortable living in one place, you have to move to where you can feel comfortable." And don't forget that, whatever country, city, village or home you go, you have to have respect for that place, no matter how humble it is. Well then, if you are living here in the USA, remember those principles, act accordingly, and be thankful of whatever you receive.
Lets not forget that, the United States is what it is, thanks to prior immigrants who came with ideas of a better living, liberty and justice; exactly as we did. The difference is that, these precursors, did care about their ideas and put it to work. Let's then try a little bit to emulate the philosophy of these men, if we want our ideas and goals we came with, to come true.
Resuming, for all that we have received from this marvelous country: Lets respect it. Lets pay it back with gratitude and honest work. And if possible, lets contribute with ideas of change and improvement. This is the least we can do to show our appreciation and gratefulness.
GOD BLESS YOU AMERICA...
