
Signs That Your Child Might Be Using Drugs
What Are The Signs?
Here is a list of symptoms, but please remember the presence of many of these
does not necessarily mean there is an addiction problem.
Physical Signs
- Slurred speech, slow or unresponsive reactions, or over-talkativeness
- Loss of motor skills
- Sudden weight loss or gain
- Change in appearance or loss of interest in appearance and personal
hygiene
- Pupil dilation or red eyes
- Sweating, increased perspiration odor or bad acne
- Significant changes in sleeping and waking hours
- Insomnia or hyperactivity (may stay up or out all night)
Psychological signs
- Noticeable personality changes like unexplained mood swings, lying,
arguing, inappropriate anger, uncharacteristic irritability, giddiness,
depression, or hostility
- Complaints about medical or emotional problems like acute indigestion,
stomach disorders, paranoia, ulcers, or talk of suicide
- Difficulty in handling complex or multiple mental functions without
becoming frustrated, violent, or intimidated by the perceived insurmountable
task
